I can serve as a local contact person, collaborate, or work as a tour guide for travel providers and travel agencies. In addition, as a specialist in the Camino de Santiago with mental health conditions, I also greatly enjoy working with organizations that recognize the Camino’s potential for healing processes and mental growth.
Hi, I’m Nicoletta, and I live in Porto.
So that you don’t have to study my entire website to learn my story and qualifications, here’s a brief summary.
- Born in Germany, moved to Portugal—specifically Porto—in 2022
- Originally a self-employed web developer with a master’s degree in linguistics
- Since January 2020, working (almost) full-time as a Camino de Santiago planner (with the pandemic in between)
- Personally walked nearly 4,000 km on the major Camino routes (Camino Francés, Camino Portugués from Lisbon and in all variations from Porto), Camino Inglés, and Camino Finisterre
- Meticulously documented everything along the way—I know where strollers can’t get through and which water sources are unreliable
- Specialized in the topic of the Camino de Santiago and mental health conditions
- Several psychological training courses, personal experience, and the ability to keep the two separate
- Thanks to 18 years of self-employment, highly organized—and despite living in Portugal, still reliably German in my work ethic
For Camino de Santiago Agencies and Tour Operators
If you are an agency specializing in the Camino de Santiago, a tour operator planning to offer Camino trips in the future, or a freelancer looking for partnerships, you’ve come to the right place!
On the Camino, I’ve met so many pilgrims who had booked their trips through agencies that didn’t truly know the routes, which is why I understand how important it is to have an experienced Camino planner involved.
Or having a local if your agency is outside of Portugal or Spain. Or if you a need a German speaking guide…

For Healthcare Facilities, Clinics, and Therapeutic Institutions
I have not only personally experienced the incredible potential for growth that the Camino de Santiago offers, but I also see it every day with my clients. People who, despite anxiety disorders, depression, or (complex) PTSD, find the courage to walk a Camino and grow beyond themselves, developing a self-confidence that no one expected.
That’s why I have specialized precisely in this area: What does walking the Camino mean for people with depression, anxiety disorders, or PTSD? What are the specific challenges, what preparation is necessary, who needs what support along the way, and for whom is it too much of an adventure?
Whether as part of a therapy program, in aftercare, or as a preventive measure—I take care of the planning, guidance, and crisis management.
What Qualifies Me
I walked my first Camino just eight months after a burnout—still dealing with residual depression, generalized anxiety disorder, occasional panic attacks, and a serious case of complex PTSD, though I didn’t know what that meant at the time. Fortunately, I have since overcome these challenges or learned to manage them well.
But I’m professional enough to know that my own experience can’t simply be applied to others with the same diagnoses. Still, having lived it myself is valuable for the work I do today.
Beyond that, I have…
- Completed training for a helpline with the German Child Protection Association and worked there for four years
- Led a group at a drug prevention camp for teenagers
- Gained foundational knowledge through three years of advanced psychology courses in high school
- Completed training as a psychological counselor at Euro-FH
- Attended a Mental Health First Aid seminar
I am not a therapist and I know my limits. But within my small, specialized field, I’m well qualified.
And nothing makes me happier than witnessing a pilgrim whom I picked up terrified at the airport in Porto, bravely setting off alone for the rest of their journey just a week later—and then sending me home because they found their own strength.
